My approach

Portrait of Stephanie Marseille

I embrace wet cyanotype as my mode of expression: it is through its blues and the effects I create that I interpret life and transform it into wordless stories, painting after painting.

Sometimes, the stories are light and playful, rooted in a dreamlike universe as in Tales from my Garden. Sometimes, they celebrate the elements and those moments of unmixed joy or serenity that the spectacle of a marine storm or a sunset can inspire, as in Tales from the Sea.

At times, my stories take on a more political dimension: thus Stupenda! tells of the horror that violence against women inspires in me, and the courage, strength and beauty of these women.

For me, this is a continuous exploration, my visual grammar developing over time to support my artistic vision.
